          Cold air comes and the temperature drops sharply, making it very difficult for photovoltaic personnel to use glue. Low temperatures in winter can have a certain impact on the performance and construction of sealant. Today, I will summarize the specific changes and some precautions during construction.

    


1.Slow curing speed

    Due to the influence of low temperature, the texture of the sealant will gradually thicken, and its extrudability,that is, the difficulty of gluing and extruding, will increase. The pressure of the glue gun extrusion will increase, and manual operation will be time-consuming and laborious, affecting the efficiency of construction.


Solution

    Low temperature thickening is a normal phenomenon. If it is necessary to improve construction efficiency, auxiliary heating measures can be considered to increase the temperature of the sealant. The sealant can be stored in a heating or air conditioning room in advance, or heated by equipment in the construction environment; In addition to temperature regulation, manual glue guns with high thrust, pneumatic glue guns, and electric glue guns can also be used to improve construction efficiency.     




2.Slow curing speed

    Photovoltaic module sealant is a single component moisture absorbing curing type of adhesive. The curing process is affected by the temperature and humidity inside the environment. The lower the temperature and humidity, the slower the curing speed. In the cold and dry autumn and winter seasons, the curing speed will also significantly slow down.


Solution

    If conditions permit, measures such as heating and humidifying the adhesive environment can be taken to help the sealant solidify faster. If there is no interference from the legal representative in the environment, it is recommended to conduct a small area test before formal construction. If the curing can be carried out normally and the curing speed does not affect the project progress, construction can be carried out directly.



3.The bonding speed slows down

    Generally, sealant has a clear construction temperature range, within which construction can better exert its adhesive performance. However, when the minimum temperature of the product is exceeded, the adhesive speed will slow down and the adhesive time will be significantly extended. If the temperature is too low, the moisture content between the adhesive and the substrate will significantly decrease, and the surface of the substrate is prone to forming imperceptible fog or frost, which affects the adhesion.


Solution

    It is recommended to increase the temperature in the construction environment appropriately during the construction process and extend the curing time. If the temperature in the construction environment cannot be improved, a bonding test can be conducted before construction to confirm good bonding before proceeding with construction.




   The above methods are relatively common response measures, and everyone should also adjust according to their own actual situation during the construction process. The decrease in temperature will inevitably have a certain impact on construction, but as long as the operation is appropriate, the impact can be minimized without affecting the normal construction quality.
